Friends from upstate NY drop in for a visit

Our good friends Allen and Lynn Fliegel, from Phoenicia, NY, dropped in for the weekend and we enjoyed a great gathering of friends. In addition to my wife, L ynn Stan, we were joined by brotheres Darryl and Ro-z Mendelson and Stan Bobrof (owners of Monkeys Retreat)
Alen and Lynn are part of the Phoenicia art co-op (see entry below). They live in Phoenicia, (close to Woodstock), surrounded by loads of expatriate artists who've escaped the maddness of the big city and wonderfull, scenic woods, streams and mountain tops. They make a living as craftspeople selling clothes they make, dye and paint, traveling the grueling schedule of shows. Please visit their website: Babytoes.com

Phoenicia, NY, artists and friends run a co-op gallery

Phoeniciarts Co-op, a group of artists currently residing in and around Phoenicia, NY, a small, quaint little town nestled in a valley in the Catskill Mountains, have joined in an effort to provide a co-op retail space. Based on a solid foundation that no one enjoys being rejected, they have abandonned the jurrying process. Interested artists pay a small, reasonable fee for each art piece they wish to show. The gallery's low commission fee is only 25%, (unheard of in most galleries).











As a result, the gallery has enjoyed unexpected success. Many artists, local or not have particiipated and the openings usually draw around 300 attendees.



Monthly shows are scheduled. Shows open on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Drop-off days are the 2nd weekend of the month during regular gallery hours: Fri. 3-6; Sat. 10-6; Sun. 10-4.

March 18 - Beyond the Horizon
April 15 - Spring!
May 20 - Forever Wild!
