Walk Now for Autism, October 12

This note came to me from my son's wife Christina. Aaron and Christina's daughter Cordy, who just turned 4 last month, is one of millions affected by autism, that mysterious and - s0 far incurable - developmental disorder. Cordy attends a special education program that has helped her tremendously. She is, of course, my beautiful, smart, sweet, kind and very polite grand-child, whom I adore. Research appears to be the best hope for combating this. (I think it's caused by millions of tons of pollutants we've dumped on this planet in the past 100 years!)
Cordy's parents are participating in a
Walk Now for Autism event on October 12. They are hoping to raise money to be used for research. Please help. Read below for details. -charlie

Charlie,

Aaron and I are participating in Walk Now for Autism on Oct. 12 for Cordy. As you may know, autism is the second most common developmental disorder in the United States affecting one in every 150 children born today. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Research is crucial.

Cordy has already benefited from the research that has been done so far, but she has a long way to go still, and is depending on further advances in therapy and genetic research for her own success in life. We are committed to making sure she has the best chance at a "normal" childhood.

Walk Now for Autism is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. Please join me in my fight as I raise $ 250 to help fund essential research. I will be walking on Oct. 12 and would like you to support those affected by autism.

You can donate to Walk Now for Autism and join my team online through my webpage at http://www.walknowforautism.org/columbus/personal/cmc. Donations can also be mailed to Autism Speaks using the donation form located on my page or send me a check made out to Autism Speaks. My team name is Cordelia, Warrior Princess; please note this on your check and the donation form.

Please join me in my fight against autism. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the more than 1 million Americans living with autism today, including Cordy.

Sincerely,
Christina

Einhorn Sisters Spotted

Columbus -- Paparazzi have recently glimpsed at the sisters, Cordi (2-year, 10 month-old), Mira (2 month-old), cavorting at the hippest, chic spots around Columbus.

Surrounded by body-guards, aides, sycophants and throngs of adoring admirers, the girls display amazing presence of mind by acting totally natural and happy.

These few rare images displayed below, are available thanks to the intrepid photography by grandpa C.

(this blog makes it easy to show-off my granddaughters to any and all my relatives and friends, anywhere in the world- as well as to anyone else who happens upon these pages and may happen to admire a grandparent' s pride!- charlie)

Welcome Miranda

Hello friends and family,
here is the very first update:

Miranda Anne McNenemy Einhorn ("Mira")

was born Sunday May 27, 2007 at 4 pm, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Parents tired... but otherwise doing fine. Cordi is a bit confused at all the strange goings-on... but otherwise doing fine. Grandparents are kvelling and grinning ear-to-ear... but otherwise doing fine.

Mom had a long and hard labor, was exhausted when Anne and I saw them at the hospital around 9 pm, Sunday evening, Aaron looked pretty tired also. Mira had been taken to the nursery where they atttached her to an IV, because she and mom both had a fever at birth. The fever went away pretty fast, according to Christina, but they insisted on pumping her with antibiotics as a precaution (?)

We finally saw and held her, after they wheeled her in Christina's room. She weighs 8.7 lbs; bigger and longer than Cordi was at birth, and we all see what a big girl Cordi is. Welcome to your big little sister Mira!

Tomorrow is Memorial Day and we've invited friends and family for a cookout in the yard. Cordi is coming here in the morning and stays until Aaron picks her up at the picnic. Mom and Mira stay at the hospital until Wednesday, if all else is OK.

Grandma Anne (Mira's middle name is in her honor- Cordi's is Rose after my mom) has been doing double duty spending almost all her time away from work, watching Cordi and keeping their house together. I and Lynn (Bubbe) try to help as much as we can. This will all settle down soon.

We are beaming and happy as clams. Being grandparents is the best!
